As Senior Vice President, ImmunoPharmaceutics (1989-1995) responsible
for R&D strategic planning, management, funding development, and strategic alliances for an early stage NCE drug discovery
company. These activities lead to the design and synthesis of Thelin® (sitaxsentan), a picomolar,
subtype selective endothelin A receptor antagonist marketed by Pfizer for pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in
the EU and Canada.
As Vice-President for Research, Allergan (1982-1988) developed strategy, built
and managed R&D group that discovered Tazorac® (tazarotene) for acne/psoriasis and Alphagan® (brimonidlne) for
glaucoma, and Lumigan® (bimatoprost) for glaucoma.
As University of California department chairman,
built major academic center and graduate department of drug design.
International authority in medicinal
chemistry with 100+ publications and patents supported by 20 years of NIH grant support.
